Just a place to pile and share stuff. And the occasional art.

The fun thing about dreadlocks - and which most people don’t know - is that greasy hair means that they lock up very very slowly or not at all compared to dreads that are washed on a regular basis. It’s pretty logical, actually. Greasy hair just sticks together, is heavy and wet: VERY bad conditions for dreads. Clean hair (and if not heavily moisterized) is a lot more loose and tangles and intertwines and eventually locks up to form dreads. It might take a while, but eventually it does.
I currently wash my head/dreads roughly once a week. This is how long it usually takes my scalp to feel itchy. Maybe I’ll shorten the timeframe once the dreads are really mature (which they are with 6 months to one year) but in the moment it works for me. Too much washing isn’t really good for young dreads either, because they get loose and untangle more easily than mature dreads.
And this concludes another day of random dread-facts with Caboodle. See you next time.
