Reactions to Chris Brown at the Grammys. R.I.P. Society

I feel like this is a romantization and fetisization of the “aggressive black man” stereotype. I almost feel like all these girls are basically saying “isn’t that what he’s supposed to do anyway?” I know that white women who tend to fetishize black men almost get UPSET when they realize that he isn’t as “aggressive” & “dominant” as they were expecting.
“i don’t know why Rihanna complained”?? She didn’t complain, she was admitted to the hospital. But hey, when black women, especially “exotic” ones from the west indies are so oversexualized, dehumanized & routinely abused - is there any wonder why someone would say something so ridiculous?
I don’t even think these people have an actual understanding of what domestic abuse even IS. You can stay in your disney world and eject yourself off this actual planet.

Yeah, it is horrifying to see those people romantisize and fetishize domestic abuse. This is no sexual fantasy or consensual act, it is an act of abuse, dominance, power, authority, manipulation and control. There is nothing sexy or romantic about it.This is what domestic violence looks like Domestic violence is no rough foreplay, it includes physical violence, battering, psychological manipulation and abuse, rape and sexual assaults, intimidation and degradation as well as restriction and isolation of their victim. It does not only end at physical violence but also includes psychological abuse. The abuser often restricts his victims outlets, cuts her off from family and friends, isolates her and creates a certain amount of dependency, because without him, she would be helpless, alone, without a safety net. They degrade, humiliate and critisize their victims, they shatter their sense of worth as a person and make them believe they deserve what they get. This is no consensual spanking or rough slap with hot making out after that, this is abusive. Women who have experienced domestic violence have often developed serious mental health disorders. Women have been seriously injured by domestic abuse. Women have died because of it. The act of domestic violence is nothing short of horrible and disgusting, as is any act that reduces and belittles another human being.
And romantisizing it is simply wrong and disgusting in itself. Thousands of women have to endure domestic violence on a daily basis, they have to live in constant fear and selfloathing, have to hide their bruises, their mental scars, are raped by their partners, have nobody to turn to, have to fear that anything they do will be wrong and set their partner off, women who are helpless and voiceless, because their strength and resolve had been stripped of them in a highly manipulative and abusive way. To see other women belittle this behaviour and therefore belittle and make fun of those women who have to suffer from domestic violence is simply disgusting. Nothing else, it is disgusting and degrading.
