"The emperor’s treasure chests" (2009)
A 27 min - long documentary about the chinese emperor Qianlong (Qindynasty) and his love for the beautifully crafted “curio boxes”, which often had very intricate and delicate mechanisms and designs, and contained curious minature crafts or objects.
Sadly I only could find a german/french link to the video, but seeing those objects alone is aweinspiring. I’m amazed and humbled at how artists could/and still can create such beautiful and detailed worlds and sceneries in such a small scale. - At the end of the video a boatscene is presented, carved out of an olivekernel, not bigger than 3 cm!
